Step-by-step guide to start your Trezor® device securely

Step 1: Setting Up Your Device

Getting started with your Trezor® device is easy and secure. Begin by unboxing your Trezor and connecting it to your computer or mobile device using the supplied USB cable. Make sure you only use the official Trezor cable to avoid compatibility issues.

Once connected, follow the on-screen instructions to initialize your device. You will be prompted to install the Trezor Bridge software, which allows seamless communication between your device and browser-based apps.

Step 2: Strengthening Your Security

Security is the core of Trezor® devices. Always choose a strong PIN code to protect your device from unauthorized access. Avoid using easily guessable numbers, and never share your PIN with anyone.

Enable passphrase protection to add an extra layer of security. This feature allows you to create a secret word that, together with your PIN, unlocks your wallet. Remember to store your passphrase securely and separately from your device.

Step 3: Backup and Recovery

During setup, your Trezor® will generate a unique recovery seed. This 24-word seed is your ultimate backup and can restore your wallet if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged. Write it down on the included recovery card and store it securely offline.

Never store your recovery seed digitally. Avoid taking photos, scanning, or saving it in cloud storage. Treat it as a highly sensitive piece of information critical to the safety of your crypto assets.

Step 4: Using Your Trezor

Once your device is set up and secured, you can start using it to manage your cryptocurrencies. Connect to Trezor Suite or compatible wallet apps to send, receive, and monitor your digital assets safely.

Always verify transaction details directly on your device screen before confirming. This ensures that you are not tricked by malware or phishing attacks attempting to modify transaction amounts or addresses.
